What's new in Camtasia 2021?

Yesterday, I attended a Techsmith webinar on the latest version of Camtasia, their video creation software. I only started using Camtasia this year, so wasn't really familiar with previous versions, but I was very impressed with just how easy it was to use the app. It's easy to get started and very intuitive. That said, it has a lot of functionality and you can create some pretty sophisticated effects once you have nailed the basics.

My impresssion from the webinar was that the new version has increased content such as more transistions and some enhanced functionality, for example a more intuitive and easy-to-use method of storing projects.

Some of the new features showcased were:

  • Enhanced Picture-in-Picture options, like changing frame shape and motion blur.

  • A way of converting DSLR video to formats that will allow you to edit without frame drop, called 'proxy media'.

  • New vector graphics, that are scaleable and the ability to import LOTTIE files.

  • Enhanced audio features, and integration with Audiate that will allow captioning and transcription.

  • Increased functionality for text/graphics using Media Matte.

  • More tutorials and downloadable content for video creation. (And even more if you subscribe!)

You can watch an introduction to Camtasia 2021 by visiting the Techsmith website.
